Important Information
Every patient is different. Surgical suitability, recovery, and results vary depending on your individual health, anatomy, and treatment plan. Your surgeon will discuss the most appropriate options for your circumstances during your consultation.
Your Safety Comes First
At Destination Beauty, we believe every patient should have a clear understanding of what to expect before making a decision about surgery.
While many patients have a smooth recovery, all surgery carries risks, and every person heals differently. Our goal is to provide honest information, answer your questions, and support you throughout your journey.
Understanding the Risks and Possible Complications
Every surgical procedure carries potential risks and complications. During your consultation, your surgeon will discuss the expected benefits, recovery, potential risks, and whether surgery is appropriate for your individual circumstances.
General surgical risks may include:
- Bleeding
- Infection
- Scarring
- Delayed wound healing
- Fluid build-up (seroma)
- Changes in sensation
- Blood clots
- Anaesthetic-related risks
Some procedures also carry specific risks, such as asymmetry, implant-related complications (where applicable), or the need for additional treatment. Your surgeon will explain the risks relevant to your individual procedure.
If complications occur, our team will work closely with your treating surgeon to provide appropriate care and follow-up.

Understanding Recovery
Recovery is different for every patient.
While many people return to light daily activities within a few weeks, swelling, bruising, scar maturation, and final results may continue to improve over several months.
During your recovery in Thailand, patients can:
- Have their healing checked
- Receive wound care if required
- Ask questions
- Discuss any concerns
If additional medical attention is needed, we will coordinate with your treating surgeon.
Your surgeon and patient representative will also provide personalised recovery instructions based on your procedure and progress.
Revision Surgery
No surgical procedure can guarantee a perfect outcome.
Occasionally, a revision procedure may be recommended to improve healing or refine a result after tissues have fully settled.
If revision surgery is considered appropriate, your surgeon will explain the available options. Depending on the circumstances, additional hospital, anaesthetic, accommodation, or travel costs may still apply.
Flyback Cover
Some patients choose to purchase Flyback Cover before travelling.
This optional program provides assistance if your surgeon recommends eligible revision surgery in Thailand, subject to the policy’s eligibility criteria, terms, and conditions.
Your patient representative can explain what is included before you decide.
Special Considerations After Massive Weight Loss
Patients who have experienced significant weight loss may have reduced skin elasticity and thinner tissues, which can affect healing, scarring, and the final result.
Your surgeon will discuss realistic expectations and any additional considerations that apply to your individual circumstances.
Who May Not Be Suitable for Surgery?
Surgery is not suitable for everyone.
Your surgeon may recommend delaying or declining surgery if you have factors that increase your surgical risk, such as:
- Certain uncontrolled medical conditions
- Active infections
- Poor wound healing
- Unrealistic expectations
- Smoking that cannot be stopped before surgery
- A body weight or health condition that makes surgery unsafe
Our priority is always patient safety.
Smoking and Surgery
Smoking and nicotine products significantly increase the risk of surgical complications.
They reduce blood flow to healing tissues and increase the risk of:
- Delayed wound healing
- Wound breakdown
- Infection
- Skin or tissue loss
- Poor scarring
Patients are required to stop smoking and avoid nicotine products before and after surgery for the period recommended by their surgeon.
