Victoria Faint (we call her Vicky) made the decision to have a breast augmentation done in Thailand, but it didn’t exactly thrill her friends and family right away. Here she was about to fly to a foreign country, thousands of miles from home, to have surgery! Of course people close to her were concerned.
“My four daughters thought it was crazy. I also had a lot of people saying ‘Oh no, you don’t wanna be going overseas and doing surgery… things can happen…’,” Vicky recalls.

But Vicky’s one woman who’s determined to do things her way and to get what she wants – it helps that she does her homework. “I went on to Google and did some initial research,” she says. “I really wanted my breasts done because they were affected probably by my many years involvement in competitive bodybuilding.”

Still, there were a few bumps in the road – there usually are, that’s what we’re here for! Of course she wanted the procedure done right away, but she had to wait a bit to raise the necessary funds and to get things in order to take some time off from work. By the time she flew in to Thailand for her operation, she was totally at ease. “I felt comfortable with the surgeon, and the hospital was really pleasant,” she told us.

Surgery’s always a bit of a worry, though, and like anyone about to go under the knife, Vicky was a bit concerned about the procedure and the effects of anesthesia. Her top concern, understandably, was about what she would look like after the surgery. “The main thing I was worried about was getting the size right,” she chuckles.

When she came to, she was thrilled to see that everything turned out according to plan. Her breasts had the right look and feel and she didn’t experience unpleasant aftereffects or complications during recovery. “The pain was very minimal … it wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be and it didn’t get any worse when it was healing,” she says.
Fast forward to today, a year since her surgery, and Vicky not only has no regrets – she’s very happy with her experience. She’s long gone back to her normal routine, which still includes bodybuilding and all the usual activities of daily life – and a year on she still feels better and better about her breasts every day.
She says that having the same procedure done in New Zealand would cost a whole lot more, despite the fact that cosmetic surgeons there don’t have the experience that surgeons in Thailand have (some of whom have performed 1,000s of procedures over the years!). This was what got her thinking of introducing her friends back home to the idea of having plastic surgery done in Thailand.
Not surprisingly, the fact that she’s something of a walking advertisement is a major plus in her efforts. She says of her clients, proudly, “I have flown one over last year. Three ladies are scheduled for October (they’ve since come and gone and had a great experience, by the way!) this year and a few others are considering it. It’s slowly taking off even though I haven’t really pushed it that hard as I’ve come out only a few times.”
Vicky claims that it’s really not that hard to sell the idea. “As a woman, if there’s any part of your body that you’re unhappy about, why not fix it – because you will feel so much better afterwards?” she says.
