Marie's Tummy Tuck

There are 1,001 things that give people pause about having plastic surgery done in a foreign country. There’s the issue of cost, that of security, the quality of the surgeons and hospitals, the safety concerns, the effects of anesthesia and even the language barrier. And, for some funny reason, it’s usually family and friends who are the edgiest about the whole gig, not the actual person seeking treatment. Marie’s case was no exception.

“I am truly satisfied with the results,” Marie beams. “I would definitely recommend it.”

Marie, a native of the United Kingdom, had been wanting to trim the excess fat on her tummy area. She did some research over the internet and consulted with a doctor from England ahead of time and was convinced liposuction would be the perfect solution to her problem, but some of her friends weren’t so crazy about the idea, particularly since she was planning on having the procedure done overseas (due to the high medical costs back home). They tried to discourage her by warning her about cosmetic surgery being, “painful, terrible, and worse than having a baby.” Her husband was more direct; He threatened never to talk to her again if she pushed through with the idea!

As much as Marie wanted to have the procedure done, she also had to consider the feelings of those close to her, especially her husband. “I just tried everything possible not to have plastic surgery,” Marie says. “I started exercising every day. I did triathlon training twice a day, six days a week. And I was always eating very well.”

But two years of relentless exercise and strict diet did very little to help Marie achieve the results she wanted – and she again pleaded her case to her husband, who finally gave in, realizing that what Marie’s concerns weren’t just fleeting vanity, but something truly important to her.

It was during Marie’s additional research that she stumbled upon Destination Beauty. “All the information on the website was very good and very detailed,” shares Marie. She immediately filled out the questionnaire and sent an email to find out more about Destination Beauty‘s partner surgeons and hospitals. When she checked her email the next day, she’d already received a reply giving her detailed info – including listings of the extremely competitive prices and info on why plastic surgery in Thailand leaves international clients highly satisfied.

She was simply impressed with Destination Beauty’s friendly and efficient staff. “I think the people working at Destination Beauty have a really good knowledge of what’s happening and they are always willing to help,” she says.

Marie was first given a free at-home consultation with a real surgeon where expectations were discussed and initial evaluation was done. This helped her prepare for her liposuction procedure before ever leaving for Thailand. She recalls, “I knew about everything already before going to Thailand. I knew, for example, that the surgeon did not recommend a full tummy tuck because it was not necessary for me and liposuction was enough.” This kind of knowledge is invaluable and is exactly the kind of personalized advice you’ll receive when undergoing a FREE at-home consultation with one of our REAL Thai partner surgeons at Yanhee, Bangkok Hospital Phuket, Vejthani or Samitivej.

With Destination Beauty helping out on bookings and scheduling, Marie flew off to Thailand to have the procedure done at Yahnee International Hospital, Bangkok’s (in fact, Thailand’s) top cosmetic surgery hospital. Needless to say, the procedure was a success and the entire experience was memorable.

Of course, there were anxious moments. Marie went to Thailand by herself as her family or friends weren’t able to come along, and not having a familiar face at times like this can be quite traumatic for anyone. She was also worried about communication with people in a foreign country who she’d never met. But, as promised, Destination Beauty was there to be her support system.

“As soon as I walked through the door, there was someone to greet me and approach me,” Marie recounts about her experience at the hospital. “I met everyone who was going to be involved step by step. Everyone took good care of me.”

Marie was truly amazed by Yahnee Hospital itself, too, and it left her wishing that she had access to a similar hospital back home. “Everything is so clean, very organized,” she says. “The nurses are very nice. I was surprised to see them wearing heels – high heels. It’s excellent!”

As for her surgeon, Dr. Pramote, she had nothing but praise. “He’s a very good plastic surgeon and was very helpful – because all the questions and doubts that you have, he is able to talk to you and make you understand,” she explains. “He was also a good English speaker.”

Marie recounts how delightfully surprised she was about how she felt right after the procedure. She narrates: “Even the day after the surgery I could walk, I could do things on my own, I could walk in the room, I could use the facilities, I could put my clothes on. I slept well. I didn’t have to take any sleeping tablets to sleep. I took the painkillers only 3 times. So yeah, I actually felt fantastic. Not so much pain. I was able to go out in Bangkok and went shopping, went to a cinema and do some tourist things. And that was only six days after!”

You could say that the overall experience took Marie on an emotional rollercoaster ride. And she is glad that throughout the dizzying mix of desire, excitement, apprehension and relief, Destination Beauty was always by her side.
