Margaret, our dear friend from Australia had been aiming to get plastic surgery for so long. “I thought about it for 15 years, all the time, wanting to get a breast reduction,” she confessed. However deep her desire was, the reality, as they say, is that not all journeys are smooth sailing. She encountered a few bumps along the way – the kind of bumps that could make some people just give up. Her ex-husband and family weren’t really thrilled and didn’t agree with her idea of flying all the way to Thailand for surgery. Of course, for them this was a valid concern – they worried about her safety, her health and even the environment she’d be in. And what if she regretted everything about it afterwards?
They thought I was crazy for going overseas. How could you go somewhere for surgery? The place is dirty and you’ll come back with no boobs!
Questions and comments like that struck her, Margaret recalls. She honestly admitted that she was petrified, so scared about what the outcome might be and other factors too – the service, the hospital, is it any good? She had a lot on her mind, just like anyone going for a procedure abroad the first time.

In 2008, Margaret found Destination Beauty online while searching on Google, like many of you. This was the day she first got in touch with Toey (our senior Team Lead). Margaret asked every question she could think of, and then some, and Toey answered every one of them, usually within 24 hours, if not sooner.

After mentally committing to the idea of traveling to Thailand with Destination Beauty for her procedure, Margaret did everything she could to make things possible. Not that price is the only factor she weighed (although it’s a very important one), of course. Margaret evaluated other options in both Australia and Thailand, but nothing else matched up to the service she got here.
In Australia, according to Margaret: “You are lucky if you see a nurse, just the exact opposite in Thailand. There are so many nurses looking after you!
“Toey was the main reason. I did email other companies in Thailand but I kept coming back, I did the same in Australia too – none of them were as helpful and friendly as Destination Beauty” said Margaret.
Fast forward to 2010 and, with the support of Margaret’s new partner, it all came together for her – and we were glad to help. She got in touch with Toey once again and Destination Beauty booked for Margaret at Yanhee International Hospital in Bangkok, Dr. Suthat administering her consultation and actual surgical procedures. She was very nervous at first when she arrived at the hospital but the fact that Asian hospitality is very warm and genuine, they made her feel at ease to the best they can “The language is a bit hard to understand but everyone was so accommodating and friendly – they made me feel very comfortable, at ease and they knew what to do. They had a lot of jokes with me and made me laugh” Margaret joyfully told us.
She cant help but compare the hospital services in her homeland to what she experienced in Bangkok. “The nursing services today in Thailand is what you get 30 years ago in Australia – and that’s just fantastic!” by that, Margaret referred to how professional, accommodating, hospitable, dedicated and friendly they were and how time didn’t degrade the attitude and dedication of these Thai Nurses.
In Australia, according to her – “You are lucky if you see a nurse, just the exact opposite in Thailand. There are so many nurses looking after you!” It adds up to the total experience being pleasant and that it helps a thing or another avoid being homesick.
The cost, too, was a big thing for Margaret. She spent a fraction of what could it have been like in Australia.
The cost was a big thing, in Australia you spend about $20,000 for one procedure alone. In Thailand I got three procedures, airfare, three weeks holiday, shopping and everyday allowance for about $20,000
When the actual surgery time came, Margaret was so anxious, thinking all about the post operation stuff – being sore, possible complications and the like but nothing held her back. She was totally determined to get past through it, achieve her goals and that everything will turn out for the best. Margaret’s high blood pressure climbing up to the ceiling at some point didn’t get in her way, her self determination combined with her cooperation with the surgeon and staff, the planned Breast Reduction, Tummy Tuck and Liposuction finally pushed through!
Fast forward to today, its been 11 months since Margaret embarked on a journey of self transformation and its a huge success so to speak. She is over the moon and so happy with the outcome of her Breast Reduction and Tummy Tuck. She does have one setback on her liposuction having some fluid build-up but she is doing something about it now and we hope that it all goes out very well, and it definitely will. You could say that Margaret’s journey isn’t perfect but above all, Destination Beauty was always by her side.
