Good Candidates for Forehead Lift in Thailand

A forehead lift, also known as a brow lift, removes or alters the muscles and skin in the forehead to reverse visible signs of aging or counter inherited conditions such as drooping eyebrows, hooding eyelids, forehead furrows and frown lines.

If you have deep furrows between the eyes, horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, sagging nose and tissue that hangs down at the outer part of the eyelids, then a forehead lift might be for you.

But first, you need to be evaluated by your surgeon for overall fitness to undergo operation. Any candidate for surgery has to be in good physical and mental health. You must try to know as much as you can about the procedure – how it’s done, its side effects and possible complications, as well as results that you are expecting from it.

Your surgeon, meanwhile, will ask for your medical history to find out if you have health conditions that would make surgery risky. He will also give you detailed instructions of how to prepare for your forehead lift. He may ask you to regulate or stop the intake of certain medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements as these may affect your healing after surgery. If you are a smoker and a habitual alcohol drinker, you will be asked to stop for at least two weeks before the operation.

How the Forehead Lift in Thailand is done

A forehead lift is usually done under general anesthetic which means that you will be asleep and pain-free for the several-hours duration of the surgery. You will also be required to stay at least an extra night in the hospital for monitoring and proper rest.

For the procedure, sections of hair will be held clear off the surgery area. Hair directly in the incision line may need to be trimmed but shaving your head is not necessary.

Your surgeon will make a headphone-pattern incision which begins at ear level and continue on across the top of the forehead at the hairline and down to the other side of the head. Your surgeon will take extra care to make the incision beyond the hairline so the scar will not be visible.

Your surgeon will then work through the incision to lift the skin of your forehead so the underlying tissue can be removed and the muscles be repositioned. Your eyebrows may also be lifted and excess skin at the incision point will be trimmed to give your forehead a smoother appearance.

A forehead lift may be done as an individual procedure or in conjunction with other surgeries such as a facelift, eyelid surgery or rhinoplasty for a more balanced overall result.

What Happens After A Forehead Lift

You will experience minor swelling, bruising and soreness for the first few days following your operation. Your surgeon will prescribe medication to alleviate these discomforts. Most visible signs of surgery should fade within three weeks.

You can expect to be up and about within one to two days after your surgery but you should be careful not to expose your face to rough contact. You should also avoid strenuous activities including sex, heavy housework and jogging for several weeks. Although recovery time varies from patient to patient, it is normal to be back at work after seven to ten days.

Your surgeon will tell you everything you need to know about post-surgery recovery. Following his advice closely is important in ensuring optimal healing.

Forehead lifts are done routinely and enjoy very high satisfaction rating among patients. But like any other surgical procedure, there is the possibility of complications setting in. On rare occasions, the nerves that control the eyebrows may be injured. Poor healing, hair loss along the scar edge, loss of feeling along the incision line, bleeding and infection are some of the other complications inherent to a forehead lift.
